SOCIAL INFLUENCE

Actions and thoughts that have been influenced by groups or another person by peer pressure, marketing and conformity.

SOCIAL NETWORK

The people, family and frinds that form a system that is interconnected where alliances will be formed, information swapped and strings pulled.

SOCIAL NORM

The pattern of a behaviour shown by a particular community, group or culture that is considered to be mormal.

SOCIAL ORIENTATION

A philosophy in business that takes the well being of a society into account as well as the customers’ satisfaction.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The obliagation of the management of an organisation to the welfare and the interest of the society where it is in operation.

SOCIAL SAFETY NET

Community provided welfare services at local and state level geared towards reducing poverty in the community. It can provide housing, jobs and money for utility bills and food coupons.

SOCIAL SECURITY

A program that has been mandated by the Social Security Act in 1935 that provides for the elderly, disabled and provides health insurance to certainmembers of a community.

SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (SSN)

A government assigned number for people in the US under the Social Security System. Non US citizens can apply if they are temporary workers in the USA. Each number will be unique.

SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM

Funded by tax and payroll contributions it provides the money for governemnt programs to assist the unemployed, disabled, retired and disadvantaged.

SOCIAL SERVICES

The government provided facilities such as education, health care and housing in order to improve living conditions of children, elderly and the disbled.

SOCIAL SKILLS

The ability to persuade, interact and communicate with members of society with no undue conflict and disharmony.

SOCIAL STRATIFICATION

A rigid subdivision in society that creates a hierarchy of layers that sre differentiated on the basis of wealth, prestige and power.

SOCIAL STRUCTURE

The organisation of society that is based on patterns of interaction between parents, teachers and students, employees and employers that have been regulated by the accepted norms and vaues of a society.
