SOURCE CODE

The computer program that is written in a language and then converted to a code the computer can read.

SOURCE DETERMINATION

The process used to find the cause of a problem or an issue that has arisen. A back tracking process to locate the cause.

SOURCE DOCUMENT

A document that shows evidence of a transaction or business deal such as a invoice, receipt, cash slip, deposit slip.

SOURCE PRINCIPLE

A rule in taxation where a state can tax any income derived from any sources that lie within the states boundary.

SOURCE REDUCTION

A way to reduce the amount of material that will enter a waste stream ata certain point in processing by redesigning the product and the processes involved.

SOURCE SELECTION

The formal process used to procure goods and services comprising an invitation to bid, evaluation of responses, short listing suitable responses and awarding a contract.

SOURCE SEPARATION

The sorting of a range of materials that form waste products where it is made and not where it is dumped.

SOUTH

A collective term applied to all dveloping countries that are located South of a dveloped country that is known as North.

SOVEREIGN AUTHORITY

A body such as a parliament whose actions have a legal force and who has the ultimate power to modify, lay down and rescind ant laws of the land.

SOVEREIGN DEBT RATING

An assessment of the likelihood that a country will default its loans made by the International ratings agency.

SOVEREIGN GUARANTEE

A guarantee by the government that all obligations will be satisfied when and if the primary obliger goes into default.

SOVEREIGN INDIVIDUAL

A person believing in the rights and power of the individual, who doea not trust the government and would like more power in the hands of the individuals.

SOVEREIGN RIGHT

A right that a state possesess which allows it to act for the benefit of all of its citizens as it sees fit.

SOVEREIGN STATE

A state with full sovereignty over all of its affairs, territory and existence.

SPAM

A mass mailing via the interenet where a message is sent to everyone whose email address is known of. It does not ask permission.

SPAMMING

An overlaod of email messages that overwhelm the mail handling and storage capacity of a web site.

SPAN OF CONTROL

The number or persons that a manager has control over that varies with the type of work involved.
