ASPIRATION

1. sucking up a fluid. 2. taking a liquid into the lungs while swallowing or being sick.

ASSET

A financial contract or physical object with value that is owned by an individual, company, or sovereign, which can be used to generate additional value or provide LIQUIDITY. Assets are credits to

ASSET/EQUITY RATIO

The amount of revenue a company has. The total revenue and the amount a shareholder gets is used to reach this ratio.

ASSIMILATION

Buying the whole new issue by public buyers. If underwriters do this its called absorption.

ASSISTANT

An employee that helps someone with higher rank than them intheir activities.

ASSOCIATE COMPANY

A firm that another firm controls. At least 20% of shares are usually used for this. The directories are interlocked to make sure a common policy and similiar objectives are in place.

ASSOCIATED

1. to be connected to another party or business. 2. when molecules are held together by a common bond.

ASSUMPTIONS

The cause and effect connection that is accepted. It is used in simulations. It can be dangerous if accepted without any real world proof. Refer to critical thinking and rule of thumb.

ASTERISK

The star symbol that indicates a foot note or end note has additional information. Refer to star paging.

ASYMMETRIC RISK EXPOSURE

A mismatch of gain and loss due to value changes of an asset. A wide gap is between loss and gain with a call option.

ASYMMETRY

The state of not having balance. One part is more than the other.

ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSMISSION

When data is sent through signals in spruts spaced at different times. A starbit is used to seperate data and an endbit is used close it. It is used on phones.

AT BEST ORDER

An ORDER to buy or sell securities at the best price available at the time the order is placed.

AT THE CLOSE ORDER

An ORDER to buy or sell securities at the market closing price; if the order cannot be fully executed, it is cancelled. See also AT THE OPEN ORDER.

ATMOSPHERE

1. the gasses that surround the earth. It is made of nitrogen and oxygen. Trace amounts of argon, carbon dioxide, helium, krypton, methane, neon, sulfur dioxide, water vapor, and xenon are present.

ATMOSPHERICS

When a retail store has displays, smells, and environmental elements to influence mood.

ATTACHED

A housing unit that shares a wall with another unit. It is commonly a multifamily dwelling or consists of multiple units.
