APPLICABLE RATE

A scale with numbers that is used to determine charges, tax, and other cost issues.

APPLICATION PROGRAM

A program that is complete and performs its task but does not perform maintenance. The slang term for this is an app. AKA application software.

APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE (API)

Software routines, tools, and procedures that are grouped to be building blocks in developing an app for a platform. Its an interface that lets different programs work together.

APPLICATION SERVER

A computer that has app programs to serve the client computer when the request is put in by other network users.

APPLICATIONS (APPS)

A program whose base is in software or the web that is an interface for a task. They can be on a hard drive, the internet, or through a smart phone.

APPLIED COST

A cost that an activity or product incurs in overhead. It may or may not be based on the actual cost.

APPRAISAL

1. an evaluation done to determine an items worth. 2. when an appraiser assesses market value, estimates damage, and determines loss. It is written and effects the value of the property. AKA

APPRAISAL CLAUSE

In property insurance the insured or insurer can demand an appraisal for property damaged to justify a claim.

APPRAISAL FEE

A charge that an appraiser estimates for market value. The fee is based on the value or it can be fixed.

APPRECIATION

When an asset’s value increases due to improvements or additions.
