ADDITIVE

An agent that works with another to add to an effect.

ADDITUR

When value is added to a court settlement to prevent a plantiff from appealing based on inadequate damages. The defendant must consent. The court has the power to do this.

ADD-ON

A NEW ISSUE of COMMON STOCK for a company that has already completed an INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING. The addon increases the issuer

ADD-ON LOAN

A lending agreement that adds interest to the interest and uses returns to pay interest. It causes the interest rate to be higher and must be agreed to at contract signing.

ADD-ONS

Additional fees charged to the price of a good or service.

ADDRESS FOR SERVICE

An address that is given to deliver legal documents. If the document is delivered to that address its considered delivered to the party.

ADDRESS OF RECORD

The permanent address of an individual or organization. Refer to registered office.

ADEQUACY

Being legally able to complete a requirement.

ADHOCISM

An organizations management style that doesn’t plan ahead, responding to only urgent situations, and focuses on fire fighting. This is the way the company sets their goals. Refer to adhocracy.

ADHOCRACY

The style of an organization that is flexible and can respond to change better. Refer to adhocism.

ADJOINING ROOMS

Rooms in a hotel that have no connecting passages but are next to each other.

ADJUSTED BREAKEVEN

A measure of the number of years it takes for an investor to recover the initial CONVERSION PREMIUM paid when purchasing a CONVERTIBLE BOND, after accounting for the fact that the investor

ADJUSTED FUNDS FROM OPERATIONS (AFFO)

How much a real estate company has available to it. It uses operation funds, amortized funds, rent, and revenue. AKA cash available for distribution or CAD.

ADJUSTER

Also known as an adjustor, an employee of an insurance firm who examines a specific claim to determine the cost to the firm.

ADJUSTMENT INCOME

A policy that affords a living to the inheritor in the event of the death of the insured until the inheritor can maintain a living on their own.

ADJUSTMENTS ESTIMATE

A request to parliament for a rider attached to a bill changing the amount of money set aside for a yearly budget.
