Person trying to get what they want or to earn respect using flattery on influential people who can help with goal achievement.

SYMBIOSIS

Close relationship existing between 2 organisms where one gets a benefit from the relationship.

SYMBOL

Sign or word used to indicate or signify an idea, relationship or object.

SYMBOLIC LANGUAGE

An artificial language such as Mathematics that uses symbols to avoid any ambiguities or inadequacies of a natural language like English.

SYMBOLIC LOGIC

Mathematical disciplines used to reduce rules of formal logic to those of algebra. Called mathematical logic.

SYMMETRIC KEY CRYPTOGRAPHY (SKC)

Coding scheme for secure data transmissions using one digital key to encode and decode the message. Also known as symmetric key encryption.

SYMMETRICAL DIGITAL SUBSCRIBER LINE (SDSL)

A single line digital subscriber line, DSL, offering 2.3 Mbps of bandwidth in both directions over phone lines to a length of 10,000 feet with no repeaters. Also called High Speed digital

SYMPATHY STRIKE

The taking of industrial action where employees of another firm or department will stop work to show solidarity with the striking workers.

SYMPOSIUM

A discussion by a panel of experts on a certain topic with participation from the audience.

SYMPTOM

The subjective or apparent manifestation of a disease or condition or the change of such. See syndrome.
