CYPHERTEXT

Text or a message that is encrypted into a coded human unreadable form. The input must be decrypted to be read once recieved. It is also written as ciphertext.

Inventory practice where the stock is checked on a regular basis. Each item is counted once in an accounting period. A fast moving or expensive item is inventoried more than less popular

CYCLE RATE

The machine cycles per minute that do not necessarily represent its speed.

CYCLE TIME

The time needed to do one cycle or complete a function from start to finish. It is used to compare total run time to total time of a process.

CYCLIC VARIATION

When the economy changes due to a recurring cause. It can be seasonal or follow a business.

CYCLICAL

An event that happens on a regular basis.

CYCLICAL INDUSTRY

An industry that follows economic cycle. It profits in good times and declines in a recession. Health care is not an example of this type of business.

CYCLICAL STOCK

A security that is issued based on the companies economic trends. It is better when the economy is better and declines when the economy does. Compare this term to Noncyclical stock.

CYCLICAL STOCKS

An industries shares that is subject to economic changes. They profit when the economy is good but fall when it is bad.

CYCLICALLY ADJUSTED DEFICIT

Predicting the governments budget loss when the economy is normal. It assumes spending and taxes are unchanged but does not consider the effect of national income versus debt.

CYCLICALLY ADJUSTED SURPLUS

The extra income that can be expected assuming normal economic behavior. Taxes and spending are assumed to be the same.

When low barometic pressure and strong winds rotate counter clockwise in the southern hemisphere. The south pacific calls it a cyclone, the western atlantic calls it a hurricane, and the eastern pacific
