BELBIN TEAM ROLES

People that are profiled by type when in a team. An action oriented role starts, plans, and finishes what they plan. A people oriented role coordinates, investigates, and works in the team.

BERLIN WALL

A wall built in 1961 to separate West Berlin and East Germany. It was a reminder of the iron curtain and taken down in 1989.

BEST TIME

The ratio of how efficient a task can be done in standard time. Its a percentage of the highest performance under conditions.

BIENNIAL

Something occuring every two years. Refer to biennium.

BILATERAL MISTAKE

When both parties make a mistake during a transaction on the same matter at hand.

BILLION

A number with nine 0s. It is also shown as a B after a number.

BIOREMEDIATION

Reducing the contaminants in soil or water. Microorganisms are used to do this by bioaugmentation. They are introduced as a liquid that will cause them to grow. Refer to phytotreatment.

BLACK MONDAYS

The three mondays in three Octobers over 68 years that the Dow Jones plunged causing world wide losses. October 28 1929, October 19 1987, and October 27 1997 are the mondays mentioned.

BLANKET ORDER

An order that is valid for a fixed time, quantity, and price. Supplies will be sent as they are needed without need to call for it.

BLIND POOL

A fund that lets investors give capital with no specific assets to purchase. They won’t know what they are buying just that they are buying in.

BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION (BAC)

The amount of alcohol in the blood stream. It shows how intoxicated the person is and if its in the legal limit. This limit can vary from state to state and body

BLU-RAY

A storage device that has high quality video. Sony invented this format of DVD. A special player is needed.

BOLERO

AKA Bill of Lading Electronic Registry Organization.

BOOMERANG METHOD

When a customer has objections or doubts, this method relies on turning those around to make the customer make a quick purchase.

BOTTOM LINE

The line in a financial statement that shows net income or loss.

BOX DIAGRAM

A control flow diagram consisting of a rectangle that is subdivided to show sequential steps, if-then-else conditions, repetition, and case conditions.

BRAZING

Form, fix, or join by soldering with an alloy of copper and zinc at high temperature. Also refer to braze.
