What is LIGIUS?

A person bound to another by a solemn tie or engagement. Now used to express the relation of a subject to bis sovereign. Lir;na et lapides sub “armorum” ap- pellatione non continentur. Sticks and stones are not contained under the name of “arms.” Bract, fol. 1446.
