Toimpanel a jury signifies the entering by the sheriff upon a piece of parchment, termed a”panel,” the names of the jurors who have been summoned to appear in court on acertain day to form a jury of the country to hear such matters as may be broughtbefore them. Besides the meaning above given, “impanel” signifies the actof the clerk of the court in making up a list of the jurors who have been selected for thetrial of a particular cause.Impaneling has nothing to do with drawing, selecting, or swearing jurors, but meanssimply making the list of those who have been selected.
