What is ELIGIBLE SECURITIES?

Securities that BANKS are allowed to purchase, hold, and trade on a direct basis, including GOVERNMENT BONDS and AGENCY SECURITIES. Those ruled ineligible under standing regulations must often be traded through a separately incorporated and regulated subsidiary.
