Ratio calculated as the pressure or stress on a substance versus the ability to resist or strain to maintain integrity. Longitudinal stress to strain, is Young’s modulus. Fractional decrease in the volume of the body by stress is bulk modulus. Tangential force per unit area causing angular deformation (in radians) is modulus of rigidity, rigidity modulus, or shear modulus.
