The amount of CREDIT RISK exposure in a DERIVATIVE or financial transaction, typically reflected as a MARKTOMARKET valuation. If DEFAULT occurs when actual exposure is positive to the nondefaulting party, a credit loss arises; if negative, no credit loss occurs.
