What is METABOLISM?

Essential to life and well being within a living organism chemical and physical processes that are continually occurring together make up this specific activity. Various enzymes work on complex food substances to release energy, eliminate wastes, and thus enable the organism’s growth and continued functioning. They break food down into simpler components in a process called catabolism, then to restructure them back into different complex substances in a process called anabolism.
