In old English law, a small, narrow slip of ground. Cowell. In modern landlaw, a small triangular piece of land, such us may be left between surveys which do notclose. In some of the New England states (as, Maine and Vermont) the term is appliedto a subdivision of a county, haviug a scanty population and for that reason notorganized as a town.
