ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM Definition & Legal Meaning

The method used to encrypt and decrypt communications or data files. This can occur on paper or electronically. The method is typically a mathematical formula or Key. Both the sender, the encryptor, and the receiver, the decryptor, have the means to translate text or code from source language to unreadable, undecipherable gibberish and back. The devices used have this key that is unique to the sender and receiver. Known also as data encryption algorithm.
