What is CLIPPER CHIP?

Designed by the US government, it is a stealth chip. Proposed by the US government to be installed in all data communication devices as a national security measure. How this chip works is unknown, but it allows government agencies to eavesdrop on any electronic communication by means of a ‘trap door’. Its application has so far been allegedly frustrated by the widespread opposition from privacy rights advocates, even though it was approved by the Clinton administration in 1994, .
