What is REGULATED ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK (ECN)?

An ECN that is authorized to operate on the exchange market. It must follow the rules of the contract and may possibly have to arrange for an independant clearinghouse. Refer to dealer market and hybrid ECN.
