What is MERCANTILE AGENCY?

Research company or organization focused on various companies to provide credit ratings on these businesses. Established in 1933 the most well-known mercantile agency operates under the name Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. A mercantile agency is like a credit rating agency, but does not maintain consumer credit files and focuses only on the business side of credit evaluation. To evaluate the credit worthiness of select businesses, other companies use these agencies.
