Market proxy is an overall market’s broad representation. To simplifying studies requiring a market variable, statistic, or comparison, one uses a market proxy, a broad representation. A proxy will only represent a small part of the overall market for all risky assets. Because of this, it may not be possible to actually find a true market proxy.
