To warrant; to bind one’s self, by covenant ina deed of conveyance, to defend the grantee in his title and possession.Warrantizare est defendere et acqul- etare tenentem, qui warrantnm vocavit, inseisina sua; et tenens de re warrant! excambinm habebit ad valentiam. Co.Litt. 365. To warrant is to defend and insure in peace the tenant, who calls for warranty,in his seisin; and the tenant in warranty will have an exchange in proportion toits value.
