The fare of a passenger by sea ; money paid for the transpor- tation of persons in a ship or vessel; as distinguished from “freight” or “freight-money,” which is paid for the transportation of goods and merchandise. PASSAGIO. An ancient writ addressed to the keepers of the ports to permit a man who had the king’s leave to pass over sea. Reg. Orig. 193.
